Day 17- Cody, Wyoming

Day 17: Cody, Wyoming

Hey hey hey! Welcome to the happiest group on TWB... THE HAPPY’S! (That’s Luke, Tucker, Lillian, Katelyn, Ella Kate, Autumn, Mallie, Cole, Breanna, Mylee, Truman, Kate, Carson, and Julia, in case you missed it!)

This morning we woke up peacefully without Dallas singing “wakey wakey” to wake us up. We kicked off the morning with a cereal bar extravaganza, providing us with our very own options of cereal in our signature red solo cups!

We had a light sprinkle as we were loading the bus this morning but it did not dampen our spirits (but it might have sprinkled our clothes.) Anyway, we were so excited to embark on our journey through the rapids of a beautiful Wyoming river! Each group got to have one “bull rider” who was the chosen person who fearlessly lead our rafts! It was cold but definitely a highlight of the rafting trip! Today marked our final laundry pit stop—no more funky odors, much to the relief of the entire TWB staff!

so many cereal options for breakfast!

The Laundromats were an adventure (as always). Laundry is something that takes a minute but we always find ways to pass the time. Snacks, talking, and the boys finding trouble are just a few of our favorite ways. JK, no troublemakers on this trip! Just a few boys and a lacrosse stick passing the ball back & forth!

Back at the campsite many of us enjoyed nice warm showers followed by Blizzards from Dairy Queen which really hit the spot! Just what this group needs is more sugar! Meanwhile, our chefs made a Walmart run, then returned and created a leftover buffet that we were all snacking on basically the whole day! Who says pudding doesn't go with carrots and hummus? Afternoon antics included heartfelt calls home, games galore in the Grizzly Den, surprise rain showers (good thing we dried off!), and more blissful Blizzards (yes some of us ate 2)!

Yee-haw, rodeo time snuck up on us faster than a bull out of the gate! The boys rocked their redneck chic—think handmade jorts by Lillian and Breanna. Meanwhile, the girls sported classic country concert attire: jean shorts and adorable tops.

Post-glam up, we munched on a supper fit for country bumpkins—chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, famous green beans (per Dallas request - we would never choose the greens), and cookies that vanished quicker than a tumbleweed in the wind! Then, it was off to town in a quest for the perfect cowboy and cowgirl hats—because every rodeo needs a little extra swagger!

picking out our new cowboy hats!

With our cowboy hats firmly in place, we charged into the rodeo more excited than ever! Amidst the unmistakable aroma of horse doo-doo (reminiscent of Caleb’s epic moments!), we settled into our seats and promptly split off for snacks, bull riding attempts, and epic photo ops.

Before we knew it the first show had begun at the rodeo and the crowd was going, AKA the 80 of us! Yet, the pinnacle of the night? Witnessing Grant bust some serious moves dressed as Elvis, complete with his infamous American speedo (a twin to his at-home edition) in the middle of the arena! The announcer was looking for the "coolest people in their 40's" and in the blink of an eye, our fearless leader,  Mr. Grant Deaton was smack in the middle of the arena being told about a dance battle he was to improv in against another "cool dad." It was a memory for the ages and was certainly a night none of us will ever forget!

so much excitement!

we were definitely the loudest in the crowd.

Reed was hoping to be crown the fan of the night!

There aren't enough words to explain our day here in Cody, Wyoming! But it is almost midnight so the Happy's are going to tap out! Catch you tomorrow!

XOXO the HAPPYS! :)
