Day 12-San Francisco

Day 12: San Francisco

It’s a special Wednesday morning!

After a wild night of luxury at the fabulous Waller Center in chilly San Francisco, we woke up feeling like royalty (thanks, Dallas, for that beauty sleep till 7:15!). The morning was a breeze, and we strutted out ready to conquer the day with our newfound glam and warmth. Next stop: the city's coolest spots, where even the fog couldn't dim our spirits. Here's to heating up the town in style!

After our snug night, we feasted on cinnamon rolls, apple juice, and cuties! Fueled up and ready, we hopped onto our buses bound for the Sutro Bath Ruins along the Pacific Coast. The chilly breeze woke us right up, but who could resist the attraction of caves, wildflowers, and even a touch of graffiti charm? The goosebumps we had? Forgotten.

Next up, we cruised through the city with our counselors pointing out the iconic spots: hello, Painted Ladies (from Full House fame!), and don't miss The Cliff House and more! Our adventure's just getting started!

Wakey Wakey Ashley!

We stayed at the Waller Center for two nights, which meant we didn't have to pack our stuff up!

ready to explore San Fran

Our fearless drivers somehow scored parking in the city jungle. We strolled through vibrant neighborhoods and buzzing shopping centers until we hit Fisherman's Wharf. The stunning San Fran Bay view stole our breaths, though apparently, we stole someone else's (at 8 am, we had the place to ourselves!)

As Savana started her Golden Gate Bridge presentation, a security guard screamed, "YOU'RE BLOCKING THE VIEW!" Cue laughter, cue a new inside joke birthed right there. We regrouped a few feet away in a windier spot and powered through the rest of the presentations (shout-out to Dallas for the heroic hair-holding maneuver for Ashlynn!). The adventures of TWB continue—with a dash of unexpected comedy!

Thumbs up for San Fran

Just a little windy

A very yummy lunch!

After presentations and a quick briefing on San Fran Safety, groups of 6 or more OF COURSE, split up to explore the city. Many campers began with a small coffee shop on the pier, which was made. by. ROBOTS. after coffee and a show, many left to begin shopping at the many stores the pier had to offer. after droppin a few dollas on their San Fran merch, TWBers sat down to enjoy their yummy lunches, ranging from classic clam chowder in a bread bowl, to nachos and burritos, as well as In-And-Out!

With full bellies, new wardrobes, and empty wallets, we continued to explore the city. The empty wallets sure lightened the loads on those walks (more like black diamond level hikes). Some of the favorite locations visited were Ghirardelli Square, Lombard Street (aka the worlds most curvy and crooked street), Francisco Park, and China town. After a few wrong turns and unnecessary hills, TWB met for dinner at Far East Cafe (with reservations, fancy fancy) in San Fran China Town. We ate until we were stuffed with a family style meal! They drowned us in Spring Rolls, lo mein, beef and broccoli, orange chicken with veggies, fried rice, and even hot tea!
Thank you Ms. Kathy for the delicious food and hospitality :)

After dinner we spilit up again and finished the day with China Town desserts like matcha, rolled Ice cream, and boba tea. We all made our way back to the buses just in time to head to the long-awaited walk across the golden gate bridge!

Before arriving Dallas filled us in on the Golden Gate Lore(she probably made this up)

"Joseph and John, the dynamic duo who built the bridge, poured heart and soul into their masterpiece for 23 epic months. Their wives, June and July, insisted they deserved the honor of being the first to step foot on it. In a nod to their hard work, they took exactly 23 steps hand in hand across the bridge. Legend has it, if you and a loved one repeat those 23 steps, you'll be best friends forever and ever and ever and ever!"

So, thats exaclty what we did. we made our way, hand in hand, across the bridge, of course taking pictures the whole way, and are now forever best friends!

Ready to walk the bridge!

But first selfies!

We're ready for our next adventure!

After a beautiful walk and lots of pics, we headed back to the Waller Center, reminiscing over our amazing day. We picked up laundry from the morning, picked through the leftover snacks, and waiting (and waited and waited), for a shower.

Tonight we’re being spoiled again with a roof over our heads, clean laundry, and heat!

We understand that we’ve been the best bloggers so far and you guys will miss us, but we’ll be home soon! don’t sleep on the Sleepy's!
