Day 10- Hollywood and UCLA

Day 10: Hollywood and UCLA

Rise and shine, superstars!!!
We managed to sneak in a bit of extra beauty sleep before we take Hollywood by storm. Time to swap our comfy PJs for some glam and hit the streets like the stars we are! Lights, camera, action!

We kicked off the day with a breakfast fit for champions – yogurt and granola bars and then we set our sights on the iconic Griffith Observatory! As we gazed out, we "looked to the right and saw the Hollywood sign" in all its glory!

During our explorations, we immersed ourselves in captivating presentations, absorbing insights about the Griffith Observatory, the glamour of Hollywood, the luxury of Beverly Hills, and beyond!

Happy Birthday Ashlyn!!!

Before the bus came, we were buzzing with excitement, plotting the ultimate prank: a fake celebrity sighting. Our unsuspecting counselor, Caleb Brannock, suddenly transformed into a Hollywood sensation, straight out of "Outer Banks" and the upcoming blockbuster "Twister." To pull the stunt together, we needed three designated “screamers.” Kelsey, Cody, and Tucker showed off their capabilities and were voted loudest and most suited to spot our celebrity.

Whats going on?!

Not sure what's going on here

After a quick bathroom break and hopping back on the bus, we had a quick drive to see the magnificent Chinese Theater and the Hollywood Walk of Fame (a.k.a. the location of our celebrity prank).

As per Dallas’ instruction…

  1. Caleb Brannock begins to strut his stuff down the Walk of Fame, right where he belongs (on the way to an important meeting, obviously)!!
  2. Our designated screamers (Kelsey, Cody, and Tucker) noticed the celebrity and made sure to let EVERYONE know the Caleb Brannock himself, was right in front of our own two eyes.
  3. 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi… our entire group surrounded Caleb, asking for pictures, hugs, and signed foreheads.
  4. As strangers began to catch on, they joined us as fangirls in our shouting and picture taking.
  5. TWB steps back and watches the magic happen!

"IS THAT CALEB BRANNOCK!!!!"

Well done TWB!!

After flawlessly pulling off our prank, some of us rushed to grab Starbucks refreshers, while others splurged on souvenirs. As fate would have it, our buses were parked directly across from the live Jimmy Kimmel Show set. It was a celebrity showdown: Jimmy Kimmel versus our very own "Outer Banks" idol, Caleb Brannock.

Caleb, still basking in the glow of our fake celebrity sighting success, was stopped yet again for more fan photos before boarding the bus. Who knew Teens Westward Bound could rival the Jimmy Kimmel Show in star power — or at least in excitement?

You can't miss out on all the pics!

I mean, look at him, if he wasn't famous before, he sure is now!

Just one last fan!

Onto UCLA! For lunch, we enjoyed pizza wraps and cheese balls, washed down with the barrel juice things. We spent an extensive amount of time in the one, the only, ginormous UCLA gift shop! After breaking the bank once more, we looked at the detailed UCLA hall of fame, which included any sport that you could think of.

We learned about their many National Championships and reigning successes. As per usual, we snacked before leaving which mostly included boba and pretzels. After hearing Khushi’s amazing presentation on UCLA, leaving their phenomenal campus was the hardest part!

Despite unexpected landslides turning our supposed 1.5-hour drive into an epic journey that ended up being more like three hours, we finally arrived at our destination — and boy, was it worth the wait! As we stepped out of the buses, we were greeted by a breathtaking view that our campsite overlooked!

For dinner, our Bashful's blew us away once again with a spectacular dinner. We chowed down on some scrumptious nachos followed with ice cold lemonade. While preparing the food, some of us decided to participate in a dance party featuring songs such as the Cotton Eyed Joe, the Wobble, and the Cupid Shuffle!

After our bellies and hearts were full, we ended the night with another legendary Sing-A-Long. Our vocal cords are sounding better and better each time! Since quiet hours had then begun, we had some "Silent S'more's" by the fire as icing on top of the cake. We had a special TWB birthday today, Ashlyn turned 16! We sang the ""Hooray" song of course and even made her a "16" out of chocolate and marshmellows!
